A New Chapter in Artistry & Mentorship

Originally from New York, Rozlyn Sorrell began her lifelong love affair with the performing arts in elementary school—already establishing professional-level discipline and artistry by the time she reached high school. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater, laying a solid foundation for a career that would span decades and touch stages, studios, and lives across the country and beyond.

As a performer, Rozlyn’s work has encompassed musical theater, drama, film, television, commercials, and recording, including opportunities to perform and record with legendary artists such as Barbra Streisand and the late Whitney Houston. Her experience also includes performances with major orchestras internationally, as well as the North Carolina Symphony and Durham Symphony, reflecting a career rooted in excellence, versatility, and musical integrity.

Beyond the stage, Rozlyn has earned equal distinction as a vocal coach, mentor, and educator, known for transforming voices through precision-based technique and deeply individualized guidance. Over five decades, she has helped singers expand their range, strengthen breath control, bridge the vocal break, refine pitch, and develop the confidence required for lasting vocal artistry. Her students have gone on to win pageant titles, earn university music scholarships, perform with Broadway-caliber artists, and appear on Broadway stages themselves.

Technique, Interpretation & the Art of the Voice

Rozlyn’s approach to vocal instruction extends far beyond singing notes correctly. Her work emphasizes anatomy-based technique, musical interpretation, phrasing, dynamics, and performance presence. Central to her teaching philosophy is an understanding of how the voice functions as a living instrument—empowering singers to work with their voices rather than against them, and to sing with freedom, consistency, and artistic intention.

Looking Ahead

Rozlyn is thrilled to announce that she will soon be unveiling a newly redesigned artist website, bringing together her personal performance artistry and her decades of experience as a vocal coach and mentor—unifying both sides of her professional life in one inspired space.

This new chapter will introduce an expanded Vocal Precision Studio experience, thoughtfully designed to support singers at different stages of their artistic journey—from foundational growth and community connection, to structured learning, to advanced, individualized mentorship for seasoned artists.

This project is made possible through a jury-selected grant awarded by the North Carolina Arts Council, an honor that reflects Rozlyn’s lasting impact on the arts community and her continued commitment to excellence, education, and mentorship.

Thank you for taking the time to explore this space. If your questions have not yet been answered, you are invited to reach out through the website. Rozlyn looks forward to connecting with dedicated artists and continuing her mission of cultivating confident, skilled, and expressive voices.

Sincerely,
Rozlyn Sorrell
